During the original Sloth plot, the Rocket Scientist used the Launch Pad on Neopia's surface to send Neopets up to the Virtupets Space Station and combat Dr. Sloth. Originally he needed supplies in order to get the Launch Pad operational, but soon he was able to let everyone use it for free.
