In the original NeoQuest, Dire Lupes were turned violent by the magic of Two Rings Fortress, and prowled the Neopia City area. They returned in NeoQuest II, found in the southern areas of Meridell, and were driven to violence by the magic of Ramtor.
Their name comes from the Dire Wolf, a large exinct wolf once found in North America.
