Little is known about Finneus J. Scrollbottom, though the Brightvale Castle Library's Auxiliary Surplus Archives are named in his honour.
He led a several months long expedition into the mountains west of the Haunted Woods searching for something known as Elderus. While he found an ancient door, he was unable to breach it. It is unknown if he survived this expedition.
Finneus did not physically appear in the Faeries' Ruin plot, and only his notes were found in the Void Within.
