Conely is one of the two guards on duty at Meridell Castle's gates. He was a witness when Master Torak broke his sword.
What's up, kid?
Hear about it? I was there when it shattered! Master Torak had been chasing this thief, name of Tark. He finally caught up to the thief right at that repair scaffolding around the corner. For a few minutes, they were swinging blades, dodging, and parrying! Then Master Torak lashed out with his sword! There was this huge crash as the sword hit the wall! The blade shattered into must have been three pieces! Powerful blow that one was! I saw shards of the sword fly up as high as the rooftops!
I took the thief, Tark I think his name was, down to the Recruitment Centre jail. With any luck, he's probably rotting there still!
You know, I even saw a shard up on the scaffolding, I think. Darn shame to ruin a sword like that.

A thief named Tark thought he could rip the honest citizens of Meridell. Turns out it wasn't as much fun for Tark. He was beaten badly by the Castle's Man-At-Arms and taken away! What a fight that was!
Sorry I can't let you into the castle, chap. Only Royalty or Knights are allowed into the castle.
