Joseph was a ghost Kiko who died and was buried in the graveyards of the Haunted Woods - it is unknown how exactly a ghost came to die and be buried.
At the conclusion of the grave digging step, it was implied that the spirits of those in the disturbed graves began to roam the area - Joseph may now live on as a ghost once more.
