Captain Cora Sayri

About

Cora is the Captain of the Salty Slorg, a pirate ship sailing out of Dacardia.

Quotes

You seen Bartholomew anywhere? That's my old Slorg - he's usually sleepin' on the ship, but seems he's gone out explorin'.
... Huh. I know it's been a while since I've been back home, but I remember this place being a bit busier than this. It's like the whole town was levelled or something.
Me? I'm Cora. Cora Sayri, captain of the Salty Slorg, and true-born Dacardian. Nice to meet you. And even nicer to see you again, Pan! Or, uh, Professor Almas, I guess.
Oh, you know... Actually, he got us out of a tricky spot a few weeks ago. We had a run-in with Bluebeard, y'see, and she and her crew ran roughshod all over our ship 'til she caught sight of Bartholomew. Bartholomew's my Petpet. I call him Barty sometimes, too. This old Slorg's been with me since before I set out to sail the five seas... An' he'll be with me fer years to come, fates be willin'! Yarr!
Arr, it were a real scuffle! There we be, facin' down the dread pirate Bluebeard, nothin' but a cutlass 'tween us... But seems she's a soft spot for Petpets, 'cause soon as she saw Barty, she let us be. Like I said, though, Bluebeard did a number on our ship... The stocks are still a mess, so I'm not even sure what I need to supply while I'm here. It'll take a while to count it all up, so I guess I'd better start.
You'd do that? Huh. Almost forgot how hospitable Dacardians are. All right, then, I'll take ya up on that! Planner, if you don't mind, could you gather some of the Cannon Balls in my ship's stores?
Yeah, those Cannon Balls are no joke. I'm sweating like a Pinklet, and I didn't even move as many as you did. Heh. Glad for the help though, so thanks.
I didn't start out wantin' to be a pirate. It just kinda happened.
Now that we've hauled all those Cannon Balls off my ship, I'd like to pile 'em up. Makes for easier counting if they're in groups. Think you can do that for me? Aye aye. And when you've made as many Cannon Ball Piles as you can, place 'em out here for Pan and me to count. Thanks.
Wow. Those are some nice looking piles. I don't think I've ever seen anything so neat and organized. Certainly not when I'm doing the tidying myself.
What sarcasm? I mean it. Oh, you want my pirate voice? Yarr, these piles be neater 'n the calmest o' seas! Heh. But seriously, thanks for doing that. Would you mind helping me with something else, too?
Gotta admit I have a bit of a soft spot for Petpets... You tell anyone else and you'll be at the business end o' my cutlass!
While you were piling up those Cannon Balls for me, I took stock of a few other things, but I've got one thing left: Gun Powder. I was wondering if you could-
Whoa, whoa! I think this is a misunderstanding. Hi. I'm Cora, captain of the Salty Slorg. Your Town Planner here was just helping me take stock of my ship's stores, so I can resupply and repair.
Huh. You must be the first stranger I've met who doesn't ask questions... I like that. Heck, I like YOU! Wanna stick around and help me find out, too?
Uh, yeah, that's one way to look at it. Anyhow, since you're both here to help, would you mind gathering Gun Powder in my ship? As much as you can grab in one go would be appreciated, thanks.
"Powderful?" Is that supposed to be a pun? Heh... heh heh heh... Heheheheheheheh! Good one! Oh, I got one too - you're really "gun-ho" about jokes! Heheheheheh! Heheheh... Huh? Oh you wanna work on my ship repairs, too? Wow, you two are the best. But first, take this as a thank-you gift for all your help so far. I know it's not much, but maybe you can use it? A Dacardite Stone. I use 'em to power me ship, but after takin' stock, I found I had more'n I need! This beaut I got whilst plunderin' Mystic Jungle, so it's prime quality . Treat 'er kindly! Yar!
Hey, thanks again for helping me clear all that stuff out of my ship. Now I know what's needed, it'll make the repairs easier. And on that note, the first order of business is... fixing my old rusty Cannons.
What?! No way. I just had one of my Cannons replaced because the wheels fell off and the ignition chamber was dented. Are you telling me I'll have to replace the other two now, too?!
Whoa! Don't even joke about settin' off those Pirate Cannons while we're on land. We could hurt someone, and I make it a point to only fire at ships that deserve it... Meaning ships that come at me first.
-Um! Sails! Ah, yeah, I just remembered, my Sails need repaired too! Any chance I could get a helping paw with that, too?
The last thing I need to get my ship in... uh, ship-shape is some new Sails. I've been meaning to replace the one I've got for a while now, but just haven't had the time. Or the funds. I wouldn't say urgent, but I would like these Sails as soon as possible. I've got a job that needs doin', and the sooner I can get it done, the sooner I can get back to sailin' the high seas.
Ha ha, very funny. You know, it's not very nice to charge for your services after offering to help... And I'm a little strapped for Pearly Neggs now, you see. But that's also why I need those Sails so badly.
Yeah. When I'm not adventurin', I sometimes take ferry jobs. You know, bringin' people here and there, that kind of thing. And I've got a client waitin' in Neopia Central, so I want to get to them quickly.
Yep. She's been wanting to come to Dacardia for a long time. Not really sure how she heard of us, since she's the first one who's ever asked me to come here, but a job's a job, so she'll be here soon.
Not for a while, and I won't be gone long once I do head out. Still got some preparations to make in the meantime, but they might get... explodey. So I'd make myself scarce if you're worried about that.
Well, my ship's in order and my stores are settled, but there are two things left. I need to practice with my new cannons, and, well... uh, the short of it is that I need funds. Er... I may have blown all my Pearly Neggs long before I came back home. And Neopoints ain't much good here, so... Yeah. I need money if I'm gonna restock before I set sail. Barty can't feed himself, ya know! Yeah! You expect me to go out to sea without making sure my defences are in order? These new cannons may be powerful, but I need to know how powerful. Fortunately, I have a plan! I can bash two Kasses with one stick by selling these blueprints I recently picked up from a cloaked lass on Krawk Island. I mean that some shady lady gave me blueprints for a cannon practice area that I've dubbed "Cannon Cove". Weirdly, it takes Dacardian geography into account and everything!
That's what I thought, too; 'yarr, it be a deal too good to be true'! But Cannon Cove will help me with my target practice, and selling the blueprints will get me the money I need! Win-win, right? Anyway, you and Lania said you were builders, right? So that means if you buy the Cannon Cove blueprints, you can build 'em. I know I could just give 'em to you, but... well, like I said, I need the dosh! Heh. Much of a help as ye've been, at the end of the day, yer friend Cora here still be a pirate, through an' through! I be needin' to make me money somewhere, aye?
At least yer a good sport about it! Heh heh! ... But now that that's outta the way, if we're gonna get some target practice in, we're gonna have to build those Cannon Cove blueprints. Shouldn't be too much of a challenge with that Crabby-bot crew ye've got at yer disposal. I be wonderin' if I could persuade Lania to let me... Ehh? Wait, is that-? Ariel! Or I guess it's "Doctor Celandine" now, heh. Been a while, hasn't it? How have you been? - You know what, hold that thought; your timing is perfect. We're about to start an experiment!
Sheesh, let a girl finish! No, it's none of that. We're gonna play with cannons! Target practice, that kinda thing. And there's no better expert on explosions here in Dacardia than Doctor Celandine! See, my new mate the Town Planner here was gonna help me build Cannon Cove using some blueprints I acquired. What d'ya say, wanna get in on the fun?
Shiver me timbers! Then let's get going and get our target practice under way! You coming, Ariel? For ol' times' sake?
Aw, c'mon. I can't tempt you with one tennsy, tiny cannon shot? I know how much you love experimenting, and how much fun you have when things blow up... pleeeease?
Hey, Planner. Hey, Ariel. How's Cannon Cove? You two manage to hit your targets okay? I know I did, which means I'm all ready to head out and pick up my client.
Pssh. Don't tell me you're still salty about all that business from years ago. I told ya, I'll pay ya back just as soon as I have the money! This is all part of that, I swear.
Aw, are you gonna miss me? Well, you're in luck, because I'm bringing my client back to Dacardia. So I won't be gone long, and you can bug me all you want about what I owe ya when I get back. But... I guess I could part ways with another Dacardite Stone. Might not be enough to cover what I owe, but maybe it could at least serve as a show of good faith until I get back.
