Jacques the Swift is the first mate of The Black Pawkeet and Garin's best friend since childhood. During the Curse of Maraqua plot, he was taken captive by the Drenched, but saved by his friends. He fought in the war against the pirates. At some point in the future, the crew of the Black Pawkeet will grow resentful of Garin, and Jacques will be the one thing that ends up keeping them in line.
