Artemis, or Arty to his friends, is a famous adventurer and long time rival of Rufus Wanderwart. He found the secret entrance to Prince Memnock's tomb before Rufus - and although Rufus dug up the Scroll of Catopia, Artemis took all the credit. The two met in the Lost Desert years later, and Artemis stole the tourists Rufus was escorting, hoping to show them a better time.
Artemis wrote Ramble On: A Biography of Artemis Q. Rambleshanks, and Arty Shanks and the Temple of Gloom. He was also featured in the books A History of the Lost Desert, and 1001 Qasalan Nights.
